VPN | Samsung Galaxy Y GT-S5360

Requirements (Kailangan para magkaVPN):

1. Patience. Learn to read carefully to reap the benefits later.

2. "Rooted" Android Phone.

Kaya be careful with this.

4. Openvpn installer (DO NOT DOWNLOAD/INSTALL OPENVPN INSTALLER if you're using the official CyanogenMod custom ROM or any ROMs based on CyanogenMod. This will cause Openvpn to malfunction) but since as of posting wala pang mod for our phone dont worry about this....

5. Openvpn settings - Ito gagamitin sa pagconnect sa vpn later.

7. Busybox - also called "The Swiss Army Knife of Embedded Linux" is a tool which brings into Android basic tools known from unix system, but is much more smaller than standard tools is.

8. VPN Config Files - later mag-aattach ako ng example config file. Thanks to sir Balbasero may SYMB threads for this.

10. Samsung Galaxy Y (Syempre)

11. Globobo or Smarty sim card.

http://www.symbianize.com/showthread.php?t=358236

Procedure for ROOTED Phones:
(Basically the same sa thread ni sir cmangalos may konting dagdag bawas lang)

0b. Install Root Explorer muna bago ang lahat...

0c. Using Root Explorer create new folder on your sdcard, name it openvpn (/sdcard/openvpn/)

1. Install BUSYBOX. Overwrite the old one.

Quote:
/system/xbin/busybox
2. Locate and Install "openvpn installer" using Root Explorer.

Eto sya pag nainstall:

-After installing, run it. Then install the binaries included in it:

click install > install > /system/xbin/ > /system/xbin/bb
using root explorer check this directory if the installation is successful:

/system/xbin/openvpn <- dapat nandyan yang file (Inuulit ko po your just looking for a FILE not folder) na yan.

3. install openvpn settings... run it

go to option > advanced >

check load tun kernel module
set path to openvpn binary: /system/xbin/openvpn

go to tun module setting > load module using > insmod
set path to tun module: /sdcard/tun.ko

4. Open root explorer

a. Navigate to folder /system/xbin/
b. Press Mount R/W (meaning Read/Write)

c. Scroll and look for the file OPENVPN --> Long press openvpn and choose Permissions
d. Put a check on the following:

User: Read + Write + Execute
Group: Read + Execute
Others: Read + Execute

e. Press Menu and Create a new folder. Name it: bb (system/xbin/bb/)

5. Install terminal emulator. Kung di makapaginput ng kahit anong character, click Menu>preferences> Keyboard Input Method> Select Word-based Pwede nyo din palitan ibang settings like font size kung naliliitan kayo sa font.

TYPE:
Quote:
su
busybox ln -s /system/xbin/busybox /system/xbin/bb/ifconfig
busybox ln -s /system/xbin/busybox /system/xbin/bb/route
Take note that ln is actually leters LN and not IN...type all the teminal emulator commands in lower case and follow the spacing required.
Note: Do not include $ and # character when typing command in terminal emulator.

6. Go back to Root Explorer, navigate to /system/xbin and Mount as R/O
7. Place your config files on the Openvpn Folder that you created earlier. These will be used to connect to your VPN

NOTE Config files can be found here at symb forum you just have to search for it... Personally Im using RealVPN located in this thread
Real VPN for Android by 89dufpoqidjv customized by balbasero

a. ovpn ang file extention nya. Example: UDP realvpn.ovpn
b. lagay nyo sa /sdcard/openvpn folder ang ovpn files nyo at iba pang kasama nito e.g. pass.txt or realvpn.crt etc
c. Take note of the directories of different config files meaning minsan kasi may file inside another folder.
d. OPTIONAL: If you open the ovpn files(right-click open with notepad or other text editors) may makikita kayo for example:

Quote:
ca realvpn.crt
auth-user-pass pass.txt

Quote:
ca /sdcard/openvpn/realvpn.crt
auth-user-pass /sdcard/openvpn/pass.txt
i hope you get what i mean kasi importante po iyan.

Here are sample configs that I use to connect Kebrum VPN

TRY This if no vpn is working for you
[FREE VPN for ANDROID]-RaptorVPN, denVPN, iPrivo, Hotsplots, sKISS, LH compilation ni batibot1234... thanks sir

8. If all is ok, Let's proceed to connecting our vpn (Make sure yung Data Network mode ay naka-activate see below on how to activate it). Open ninyo yung OPENVPN Settings na application. Makikita nyo may mga check box dun.

Tick those to activate your VPN and select your vpn...

Now why is Patience required, medyo hindi po kasi one touch connect ito madalas po several retries bago makakonek based on my experience. Pero once connected ok na yan. Saka I'm sure you'll get a hang of it sooner or later pag madalas nyo na siya nagamit.

TIPS and SOME TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDES:

1. How to activate/deactivate Data Network Mode(GSM or WCDMA) Long-Press Power button, May lalabas na Phone options> Activate Data Network mode.
- Another way is trough settings>wireless and networks>mobile networks> Check Use packet Data.

- Network mode is either GSM/WCDMA (Auto Mode), GSM Only, or WCDMA Only. Your choice depends on your area.

2. Make sure deactivated yung Flight Mode.
